2 Tbsp minced or finely grated fresh ginger, divided

½ tsp freshly ground black pepper

1 Tbsp sambal oelek or to taste

½ cup honey

¼ cup light soy sauce

1 Tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 1 Tbsp water
